Amma's Spiritual Activities

It is considered very auspicious to witness the poojas for the vigraham (idol) of Mangala Narayani. Thousands of people visit the temple to witness Sri Sakthi Amma do the Pooja where meditation, bhajans and chanting shlokas (Sanskrit prayers and invocations) are all part of the three-hour long daily Pooja.

The Pooja is conducted in stages of Abhishekam, Alankaram, Aarthi and Amma's darshan when 'Theertham' is also distributed. Intervals between the different rituals are filled by Bhajans by devotees. After completion of the Pooja, devotees queue up for darshan (vision of the Divine) and to receive theertham (holy water that has absorbed all the positive vibrations and energy during the pooja) from Amma.

POURNAMI YAGAM

Full Moon is considered very auspicious and therefore Sri Sakthi Amma performs special poojas and yagams on this day. Amma also performs a special four hour yagam every month on the full moon night for the welfare of humanity and all living forms in the universe.

The event begins with a processions led by the temple elephants around the village of Thirumalaikodi, with devotees carrying all the auspicious offerings for the yagam.

After the procession, thousands of people assemble in the Yagashala behind Shanti Mandapam (inside Sri Narayani Peedam), to witness the yagam performed with the Divine Blessings of Sri Sakthi Amma. After the culmination of the yagam, Amma gives a Divine discourse to the devotees present and blesses all present with theertha prokshanam (sprinkling). Prasadam is then distributed to devotees, along with Sri Raksha (sacred thread to be tied on the wrist as protection from evils) blessed by Amma and has absorbed all the positive energy from the pooja.

Pathway of Light

Quote If we surrender then we are always at peace, and whether we get what we want or not, (or even whether we are happy or not) doesn't matter. This is becausewe accept everything that occurs happens for the best.    Quote
