Sri Swayambu Temple

amma

Amma declared that a 'Swayambu Linga' (a religious symbol that appears on its own accord) would manifest on the 11th of September 1992, at 6 p.m.

Several thousands of people gathered on that day to witness the miracle that was to occur as declared by Amma, and so it did manifest with thundering noise and the earth shattering, creating abundant joy and blessing for the people who witnessed the rarest phenomenon.

Several weeks later, behind the Swayambu, a 'Puthu' (Ant hill) also began to emerge.

These are considered nature's way of conferring approval upon the surroundings and confirmation that the Divine force exists. A few years later, on the 9th of January 2000, a temple was consecrated on this very location, with the Swayambu Linga housed in the sanctum sanctorum.

A beautiful temple has been built around the Puthu and Amma performs Puthu Pooja on a regular basis.

Every year on the 8th of May over ten thousand devotees get an opportunity to enter the sanctum sanctorum of the Puthu temple to perform abhishekam to the Swayambu Linga by themselves.

Pathway of Light

Quote If we surrender then we are always at peace, and whether we get what we want or not, (or even whether we are happy or not) doesn't matter. This is becausewe accept everything that occurs happens for the best.    Quote
